The Karun III Project is
located on the simple folding zone of the Zagros
Mountain Range. The thick sedimentary rocks of
this area have created anticlinal & synclinal
foldings, from the northeast to the southwest.
Keif Malek Anticline – with the length of 20 to
30Km and the width of 1Km
, extending from the north-west to the
south-east, consisting limestone in the Asmari
Formation, with central layers of shale & marl
stones in the Pabdeh Formation – is part of the
structural geology of the Dam site. This folding
passes through the Dam project, extending to the
southeast and
Pol-e Shaloo location. In general, the
structural geology of the location of the
project consists of limestone, calcareous marl,
and shale stone in Asmari & Pabdeh Formations. |
